The problem

In Nigeria, there are approximately 150 maternal mortality cases daily, accounting for 1 in every 5 pregnancy related deaths worldwide.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), these statistics reflect several key issues that result in unequal access to quality prenatal healthcare in Nigeria, including manpower shortage, lack of prenatal and early childcare information, proximity to healthcare facilities, infection risk and lack of financial planning or poverty. Besides, about half of pregnant women in Nigeria do not meet the WHO required minimum prenatal visits

our Multi-pronged approach

We increase access to maternal healthcare through a variety of different mechanisms:

  • We focus on community-based informational seminars to access pregnant people who live close enough to a healthcare center to attend. These sessions focus on sharing pregnancy-related information, administering diagnostic screenings, and distributing pregnancy-related medical supplies
  • We support those who cannot commute to a distant healthcare center, we leverage mobile health clinics, both ground vehicles and boats, to reach pregnant people in rural communities and provide medical care
  • We reach those who have a mobile device, we created a digital health application designed to improve access to free and high-quality maternal healthcare information, increase prenatal checkup adherence, and lower the future cost of patient healthcare

OUR MOBILE APPLICATION DESIGN

We have surveyed hundreds of Nigerian women when developing our application and recorded 98% desirability metrics because of our user-centric design approach.

We care about creating a product that meets the needs of our users to support them before, throughout, and after the pregnancy experience.

The clinical utility of our solution has also been identified by a Nigerian top insurance provider.
